Inauguration Day
So today is Inauguration Day. I just felt like saying something quick that I know my opposite party friends did eight, and four, years ago. When Bush was elected President, and then later Reelected, I would see a lot of Demo's whining but one of the key things i'd hear them say was, "that's it, fuck it, i'm moving to Canada." And I'm not just talking about people saying that on message boards (though I remember a bunch of posts like that at comixfan in the politics thread) but also in person. But you know what? I've yet to hear any Repubs say that same thing. I almost want to put a bet out that, in four years if a Repub take office again, that Demo's will once again say "I'm moving to Canada!" I didn't vote for Obama, but hey he's my President. I will support and honor him for the office that he's in. I may not, hell I probally will not, aggree with a lot of what he says, but he's still the man in office. He's our President, and I wish him the best. | | Wednesday, July 9th, 2008 | | 1:29 am |

I can't take the stupidity anymore. I'm tired of seeing stupid bullitens on myspace that are a load of bullshit. I'm so fed up,of poeple pushing news that's either flat out lies, or so bias that it's driving me nuts. And I just need ot attack what i'm reading. I don't think anyone reads my LJ anymore, so I'm just gonna defuse the shit here. "Yesterday, the brass at ABC News issued orders forbidding reporters to wear lapel pin American flags or other patriotic insignia. Their reasoning was that ABC should remain neutral about "causes". Since when is support for preventing our death and destruction some sort of a cause? Since when is patriotism to be discouraged. I urge you to boycott ABC and its sponsors and affiliates. Please forward this to as many as you can, put ABC in the Garbage Can!!!! http://www.snopes.com/rumors/noflags.asp <http://www.snopes.com/rumors/noflags.asp> TRUE according to Snopes" Ok, for starters this little tidbit is being past around now but if you actually research it (gee, research? no way!), this was mandated Nov 2001, and was really in homage to those who parrished on 9/11 for everyone, not just Americans. But really, so what? A true journalist should be impartial, completely neutral anyway. Wearing an American pin takes away any bit of that. Journalism != Patriatism. Journalism is about spreading the news, regardless of what the feelings are of the reporters. | | Sunday, March 23rd, 2008 | | 2:56 am |

Free Wilson! Total unjustice!
I think this is such a crock what's happening to Genarlow Wilson! Free Wilson! Wilson is in jail 10 years, 1 year probation, and must for life have the title of sex offender to his name. And all he did was something we would have all done, and some of us have. At a party one night, Wilson, 17 at the time, was "caught" on video tape having sex with a 17 year old, and oral from a 15 year old. They found him not guilty of rape for the 17 year old, but guilty of "aggravated child molestation" against the 15-year-old. Because age of consent in Georgia is 16. Here's the kicker that makes it worse. Had he had sex with the 15 year old instead, he would have just faced a 5 year prison term instead with chance of parole at 2. Why does sex count for 5 year, but a blowjob count at 10? PLUS, after his conviction, the Georgia Legislators have changed the law so that oral sex now only counts to 2 years in prison. BUT they won't retroactive that to his sentence. So anyone now doing what he did will only get 1 year, not to mention WONT have to register as a sex offender, while Wilson sits in jail for the next 8 years. On the appeal, they voted not to appeal on a count of 4-3. The Georgia Supreme Court also voted against the apeal, 6-1. On June 11th, a Superior Court Judge overturned the conviction. He said since he's already served 2 years that he could be free. BUT, a Georgia's Attorney General is appeal it, saying that the judge can not overturn this. All this, and the guy wants Wilson to accept a plea bargain. But Wilson wont. Mainly because if he does and he's set free, he can't return home. He'll still ahve the sex offender to his name for 15 years, so he can't live at home because of his 8 7ear old sister. He wouldn't technically be aloud to stay there. This is all bogus! The kid wasn't even legally an adult yet. Like this doesn't happen every day in highschool with senior guys and freshmen girls? It happens all the freakin time. AND IT WASN"T EVEN SEX! | | Monday, May 14th, 2007 | | 4:49 am |
Sued over music? DUH!
re http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070513/ap_on_hi_te/music_pirates;_ylt=AqXoYuhmvxi2XyvTFR7SN3kjtBAFI guess I just can't beleive the stupidity of some poeple. Cry me a river. It's not like it's a brand new thing that the RIAA will sue you. How many years ago was the Napster lawsuit? I think I was still in highschool, and I graduated 7 years ago. That's at least seven years for people to figure things out. "Legally, it probably makes sense, because we don't have the money to fight." They don't care if you can afford to fight or not, thats not why they are "targetting" you. Hell, they'd rather you fight them, because they'll win and get MORE money. Trust me, you won't win if you take them to court. "Johnson compares what he did to people driving 5 miles per hour over the speed limit." That's one of the dumbest analogys i've heard in a LONG time. What they are doing is NOTHING like driving 5 over. You sir are a moron. Oh wait, you're getting sued by the RIAA, of couse you're a moron. Here's my biggest complant of stupidity. "Obviously I knew it was illegal, but no one got in trouble for it." o_O So because you don't get caught it's ok? Just drop out of school, because I don't want someone like you to be my future. Look people, at one time the RIAA gave us a clean slate and overlooked anything we downloaded in the past. Anything after that point in 2003 was fair game for lawsuits. | | Monday, April 16th, 2007 | | 1:49 am |

LotRO!
Lord of the Rings Online (LotRO) has opened up public beta testing yesturday and I signed up. Dude, this game kicks major ass. I couldn't wait to get home from work today so that I could play. Once I finish this blog, i'm gonna sign up and play some more. I havn't felt this enthused about a MMORPG since the EverQuest days. Not even WoW had me going like this! LOTRO is just fun. You get to be either Human, Elf, Dwarf, or Hobbit. All races are either male or female except Dwarfs (insert typical Tolkein female dwarf joke here). Classes are Burgler (think rogue), Captain (buffer who gets pets and decent H2H stats), Champion (damage dealer, alt tank), Guardian (tank), Hunter (duh!), Lore-Master (beastmaster and buffer), Minstrel (buffer/healer). Since there's only like a handful of Wizard in the LORT story, you don't get to play a magic dealer. That's so different that it's a cool twist. At times you can slightly interact with the main peeps from LOTR. My dwarf got to fight along side Ghimli before Gandolf saved us. My elf also had Gandolf save us. I made a hobbit and a human that i havn't tried yet, but i bet Gandolf saves them too ;) The game comes out April 24th. I think I may actually buy this game and play it regularly. I realy wanted to like Vangaurd: Saga of the Heroes but my computer just can't play it. My graphics card is too slow to play that game. I was actually able to dumb down the settings so that I could do something without lagging and it just didn't feel like fun anymore. I was honestly thinking about giving WoW another try (i was close to buying Buring Crusade the other night), but i'll just play LotRO for a bit longer. It's still free to sign up folks, give it a go. It's free, what do you have to lose? | | Thursday, March 29th, 2007 | | 3:27 am |
Wii60 Owner
Well it's true, i'm now in the small community known as a "Wii60 owner". Its basically means I own both a Nintendo Wii and an XBox 360. I got the Wii in January using xmas money from my dad. When I bought it, I bought it knowing full well my intentions of the machine would be. I didn't get it to play every game that I enjoyed playing previously on this new machine. I'm not going to play NCAA Football or Madden on it, nor a fighting game like SOul Calibur. I mainly bought it for it's emulator capabilities. And also how much it would kick ass in a FPS. I own a few VC games already (Ice Climber once again rules!) and Red Steel proves how much fun a FPS can be on the Wii. I plan to pick up Medal of Honor: Vangaurd soon, because I hear it's the best FPS for the Wii, and it has multi player capabilitis that are far greater then Red Steel's. Wii Sports is fun too, my fav game being Tennis and Bowling. For what I use it for, I get my enjoyment out of it. I finally broke down and bought a 360 the other day. I noticed that John finally bought one, and Dain seems to enjoy his (and Jason in playing Dain's). In July, this year's NCAA Football will come out. I honestly don't see next year's version coming out for the regular XBox, but the 360 only. Since I still had a majority of my tax return left, I figured I might as well go ahead and buy it now. Plus with John finally getting his orders to Japan, it would be nice to do voice chat over the 360. I wanted to get a 360 from Rent-A-Center, I did. I didn't have the full $400, so I figured i'd get it from them and just pay it off. They said if you pay it off in 90 days, it's just the regular price, no intrests. What they didn't tell me at first was that they wanted $800 for it. "Because we're a rental agency sir, thats why we have ot charge more then it's actually worth." Scratch that idea off. I thought about just waiting a while, and save up a bit. Then I browsed eBay for a bit. Now i'm not someone who wants to buy an actual gaming machine over eBay. Cause what if it breaks in shipping or "breaks" in shipping? Or if it just doesn't even show up and gets "lost in shipping"? I noticed an Advanced Search button that i'd never seen before, and gave it a whirl. Hell, would you look at that you can now search by distance. So I threw in 250 miles and crossed my fingers. I found a guy in Pensacola who was selling his, and the auction had a bit to go. So I placed my bid down, and waited. I decided to just stay awake until the auction ended incase someone wanted to eSnipe me. By 7am I was still in the clear. 8am hit, and I had 17 minutes to go. With a minute left, someone was bidding. And bidding. 20 seconds to go, I just constantly hit the refresh button, getting ready to rebid if need be. 5 seconds to go, nothing yet. Now or never. Thankfully, it was never. I went to sleep to get a couple hours before work. I was off from work the next day, on Monday, so I went to pick up the item. He let me pick it up in person for free. Nice guy. He's an Escambia County sherrif, and his wife made him sell his 360 so he would spend more time at home. Sucker ;) One man's misfortune is another gain I guess. For $345.02 (yeah, some fool raised it by a penny twice), I got the 360 Premium with all it's bells and whistles (20gb hard drive, wireless controller, head set, and all the cables), as well as an extra wireless controller and the plug-and-charge kit. Also in the set was the DVD remote, and 6 total games, 4 360 and 2 xbox (Fully Auto, Madden 06, NHL 2k6, Call of Duty 2 for the 360, Ultra Bust-A-Move and Black for the xbox). Overall a great A+ deal. I'm rather satisfied with my 360 and already love it. It's hooked up to my network so it's sharing my MP3 harddrive. It's a great machine. Once I get a wireless adapter for it (retails $100, I know I can find it cheaper. It's a shame it has to be the actual Microsoft version), i'll hook it up to the big screen TV downstairs. But until then, it's sitting confy in my room. PS. My Live Gamertag is Lord2TUM. I only have Silver right now (I can't play online games, just message and voice chat) | | Tuesday, March 27th, 2007 | | 2:06 pm |

MegaCon Review
MegaCon was actually pretty fun. This was my first MegaCon, sixth overall convention (San Diego Comic-Con x2, Dragon*Con x2, DreamCon…which I wish I could forget). It defenently rocked the show. If it wasn't for the dates, I'd go back next year. Wed got there early on Friday. I got my badge like it was nothing. Press Pass' were easy as hell to get. All I had to do was say my name and show my ID. Comi-Con and Dragon*Con, you've got to fill out some other paper work on top of what you've already filled. Such a shame. Even Jason had no trouble buying a pass on site. Instead of having to go through the tickets booth, he was able to buy one from the lady at the press booth. Friday was pretty boring. Only panel we attended was the Super Hero costume contest. The Huntress walked away the winner of the contest, but they were all great sports. The one I think got screwed was the Link cosplayer. He not only kicked major ass in his costume, but he actually played the ocarina! Mad props to the guy (it was a shame when I heard his ocarina broke on the last day!) And some dude dressed as an Ent from the Lord of the Rings. Dude actually walked on mini stilts to get the height right. Now that's dedication! We took a few pictures but not too many that day. When we were separated, I eventually found myself trapped watching the LARP/Barbarian Battles. That stuff just sucks you in man. I wanted to just watch for a second, and ended up watching for a couple of HOURS. Tournament after tournament, I just couldn't stop. My favorites were a Cloud cosplayer (he brought his own nerf swords with him and actually did Cloud-like moves) and a Reno cosplayer (who eventually stopped using a polearm because he wanted to prove a point that you could win with just a sword). Saturday the Con was a booming. Jason cosplayed in his The Grifter outfit (from WildC.A.T.S). I was supposed to go as the Red Hood/Jason Todd but I left some parts of the costume home (I'll go into my Red Hood rant later, trust me). First thing we did was go to the Marvel and DC panels. The only thing that sucked was that they overlapped each other. Marvel ended at 12:50 and DC started at 12:40. After the panels, Jason and I separated again. He left for some Pizza, and I walked around a bit to eye shop. Once 2:45 hit, I headed to the Troma booth to catch EPP give a guerilla show. They didn't show so I left to relax on the second floor. Jason called me to tell me after 45 minutes he FINALLY got his pizza, and that the gang walked passed him. I ran to the Troma booth to catch the Nerdcore show. It was great. This is my first in person Nerdcore show, and I loved it. They (EPP) performed Punch Out to Lloyd Caufman of Troma. After, they spotted me and interviewed (!) me about Nerdcore in general, how I got onto the scene (via Beefy, which led to Rhyme Torrents), if Nerdcore was going anywhere (after CES, it's now going to blow up!), etc. After he ran out of material ("this isn't even a real mic!"), he asked me about Aquaman, which I jokingly called myself a fan because "no one likes Aquman, so some one has to!" I got to hang out with the gang (MC Wreckshin, Fanatical, Betty Rebel, Sir-Up, and 2/3s of the Krondor Krew) and walk around the dealer room and watch them spontaneously perform. This was my first actual listen to the Krondor Krew, and I've got to say that they kicked ass. I'm instantly a fan! They've got a more darker, louder feel to them, kind of like raprock without the rock band. D&D was my favorite song that they put out. People seemed to really enjoy the Nerdcore show and got into it for the most part. After EPP and Krondor left, I watched some more Barbarian Battles. Again, I can't stop! The guy won both tournaments yesterday (both Singles and Doubles) won again today. Dude's just that good. It looks like he has some actual weapon's and martial arts training to him, as well as a lot of others who were there. One of my favorite moments was this one little girl. She screamed so loud, that everyone stopped dead in their tracks. She then stabbed at both of her opponents (and her partner, no less) and giggled away the winner. She was a crowd favorite until she was eliminated. I got tons more pictures taken that day. After the con, we went to the first Annual HEROES Charity Bowl-A-Thon! It was pretty fun. I did my usual bowl crap then good routine (82 to a 109, the only person to bowl triple digits in our team. Eat that, Lucynsi!) I didn't know we'd only bowl two games, or I would have bowl all out right away. Oh well. Anthony came out the winner by three pins over me. IT was cool to be a VIP for a few hours, eating catered foods, etc. Bets of all, we were literally less then five feel away from legendary penciler Adam Kubert, who is my new hero! (When everyone else was bowling their first game, he spent that first game just eating slic of pizza after pizza. Once they stopped bringing out pizza, he was chugging beer. He bowled the second game and just owned his team. It was great.) Twas totally worth the $25 charge to get in. Sunday was a nothing day, my actual shopping day. I bought a few things for Christen that I hope she'll enjoy. And again, I was stuck watching the Barbarian Battles. After my favs were all eliminated, we left the con. Though some time on Sunday, I did run into a Red Hood cosplayer, and boy did he suck. His "helmet" was just a pull over mask like what Spiderman or Deadpool would wear. For shame! Had my costume been here, I would have so out Red Hooded him, it wouldn't be funny! This defenently got me into the convention mood. My next stop, hopefully, is Dragon*Con. I think I'll actually take my vacation time for that. So far it's me and Jason going, with Dainon saying he'll go and I'm talking Christen into going. I just know I've got to have a costume bag so that I won't forget anything! | | Friday, February 2nd, 2007 | | 6:42 am |
Uselessly Special Editions of DVDs
I just don't get it. Why do production companys insist on trying to spoon force us into buying "Special Editions" of DVDs? It's to the point where I know people who refuse to buy a DVD until the SE or DC (Director's Cut) of it comes out. Because, as they always say, "it'll eventually come out." On top of that, I know people who'll buy the SE AFTER already owning the regular edition. And here's the worse case of a Special Edition being made: I was at WalMart tonight, doing whatever I normally do at WalMart at 2am. I head to the Electronics section, and what do I see amoung the DVDs? A Special Edition of The Passion of the Christ. You have GOT to be kidding me. Why? Just...why? Of course though, I can just imagine the tag they have for tv commercials. "You've read the book, you've seen the movie. Now, coming to a store near you is the Special Edition of the Passion of the Christ. We've doubled the blood, tripled the gore. And seen for the first time ever, we've digitalled added a second cat-of-nine-tails. Tha'ts right, that's like getting 18 tails of cat action sliced away at our lord and savior. ONLY on the Special Edition of the Passion of the Christ." | | Wednesday, January 31st, 2007 | | 5:01 am |
Heroes High Gone
I knew it, I knew this would happen. We've gotten up to the second episode of Heroes since the return and i've yet to watch either episode yet. They're both sitting in my TiVo's queue waiting to be watched. I've even been off work on those mondays, and still didn't watch them. I actually watched WWE Monday Night RAW on both mondays instead. (Me getting back into watching wrestleing is a whole other story all together lol) I knew the minute they put us a break that once it'd come back, I wouldn't be in the mood for it. I was on such a high for Heroes, counting down the days until the next week's episode. But that break just killed it. Does that every time I have to wait over a month for something. Some day i'll end up watching these episodes. And maybe i'll get back on that Heroes high. But for the time being, i'm Heroes-less and i hope NBC is happy. | | Saturday, January 27th, 2007 | | 11:54 pm |
Huzzah for Donald Trump
This whole Donald Trump/flag issue is just absolutly rediculous. Those people in Palm Beach should be ashamed of themselves. It's not like he's putting up a Donald Trump flag, or an "F-U" flag, it's the US flag. It ain't even that high up there man. Those flags in DC are much higher up, and i've heard that that's other flags in Palm Beach that are higher but have gotten a special ok to be that high up, and those are showcasing whatever property they are on those flags. THE US FLAG MAN! This is just bonkers, crazy, and pointless. I'm glad the Donald is taking a stand in this. He's up to $25,000 in fines right now. I hope he wins in court over this. He's sueing them for $25million, and guess where that moneys going? It's going into a foundation to help east the expense in bringing back wounded troops from Iraq. Donald Trump, FTW! | | Sunday, January 21st, 2007 | | 6:25 pm |
My Wii-Venture
Make a long story short: I own a Wii, and it was worth it. So Jason and I decided to camp for my Wii. Well, we wanted to do it last week cause Best Buy was supposed to have Wiis on MLKday, but when Target said they'd sell Wiis on the 21st Best Buy opted to compete against their rival. So we had to push our camp out day back. I got off work at 11PM. We started out at 3am. We piced up some food from What-a-burger, and headed to Target. No one was there, it was completely empty. So we headed to Destin (neighbor town, 15 minute drive). Their Target had a few cars but from workers there. We drove by Best Buy, and someone was actually there in their car waiting. Next was Wal-Mart, where the guy working there said they didn't have them for sale yet. We had a good, long discussion on how stupid it is to hold onto something like a Wii for a specific sale day (he was cool, totally agreed and talked smack). We headed back to town and parked at Target. There was a few people at the door, so we headed up. Turned out, they were workers waiting for the door to be open. The lady who opened it asked us what we wanted. She told us Target's shipment trucks weren't gonna show up til tomorrow. How crappy is that? So we headed to Circuit City, who had Wiis according to the fliar. We parked at Circuit City at 5am and just chilled in the car. I think I got around an hour nap before someone else showed up. We waited a bit longer again. Around 7 when Publix opened, Jason left for Publix to use the restroom. He walked past the other car, they had a conversation. That guy was there for the Wii too. Around 7:30, a lady from Circuit City came out and headed towards our cars. She gave out vouchers to pick up Wiis later on, null in void after 12noon. We headed to my house to relax when Jason decided he was gonna get a Wii too, instead of waiting. A 30 minute wait at Circuit City, she came back out to hand out vouchers again. There was two othe people waiting with us. We chilled at my house watching some old Office episodes until 10 when Circuit City opened. We were a few people back in line before we got our Wiis. So we're proud owners of two Wiis. Huzzah for us. PS. Took a nap after getting it, and went to work for 3pm shift. So next to no sleep for me, but totally worth it for the Wii! | | Sunday, December 10th, 2006 | | 1:00 am |

RIP Dave Cockrum
Today, one of the greats in the comic-dom has passed away. Dave Cockrum passed away this morning. He'd been sick for a long time, so it's good to know that he will not be in pain any longer. A lot of who we read were created by Cockrum, or he had a hand in. Storm. Nightcrawler. Collosus...hell the entire All New All Different team that helped saved the X-Men franchise. We owe a lot to him. He was a great man who was always open to his fans. He went to chat rooms and posted in tons of message boards. I once had the great pleasure and honor to interview him for my "Before They Were Stars" interview pieces back when I was starting out in comic journalism. Goodbye Dave Cockrum, rest in peace. We'll miss you. | | Tuesday, November 21st, 2006 | | 11:27 pm |
Outback Bowl
Well it looks like this year we'll be celebrating the new year in Tampa, FL. Earlier today, Penn State accepted an invitation to play in the Outback Bowl against an SEC team. Last year, we all went to the Orange Bowl to see Penn State play (and beat) FSU. We bought the tickets as a present for my dad, who's a life long Penn State fan. So when news came out that they'd be playing in Tampa, my dad came up stairs and he bought us all tickets to the game. So come January 1st, we'll be in the stands hoping our team beats whomever the SEC sends! | | 3:34 pm |
So after 3 1/2 long years, i'll be discontinuing my T-Mobile servie. I've been using the same exact phone since I joined T-Mobile, and I just need a new phone. Can't really afford to pay for a phone, so I thought i'd check out T-Mobile's upgrade list. There just wasn't anything worth it there, and that would include a 2 year contract. I've called the last month or so to see if they can help me out at all, and all I get is a no. I've been out of contract for 2 months now, you'd think they'd do whatever it takes to sign me back up. I guess it's just easier to sign up someone new then keep someone old. I even asked them if I can just end my account and restart a new one getting the new line deals. They said, "I'm sorry Mr. Toner, thats not how it works." I told them just about all my friends are on another company, and the best they can do is sign me up for My Faves (call any 5 people each month for free) but it'll cost an additional $10. That was the last straw. So i've now joined Cingular. My new phone came in today. It's the w300i phone, the walkman MP3 player phone. I paid $100 for it, and i get a $75 mail in rebate in a month. |
